4 Surface warming in the 21st century


Climate models predict a consistent geographical pattern in the warming of the Earth's surface, shown here as the change from the pre-industrial period to the 2080s. In particular, the oceans are expected to warm up more slowly than the land, while high latitudes warm faster than tropical regions due to positive feedback as snow and ice melt.
