Sharp focus - these images show a rotating neutron star, or pulsar, in the remnants of a supernova explosion called the Crab nebula. The image on the left was taken by the ROSAT satellite, while the one on the right was taken by the Chandra Observatory. The Chandra image has a resolution 50 times better than ROSAT, and reveals new details such as rings and jets in the region around the pulsar. Credit S L Snowden (left) and NASA.
