Energy fades fast

The gamma-ray burst recorded on 28 February 1997 gradually became fainter with time. For each type of radiation, the points show the observed value, with arrows indicating the upper limits, while the lines show the predicted radiation from a simple blast wave moving into the surrounding gas. The gamma rays (green) fade first, followed by the X-rays (purple). Then the blue (blue) and yellow (yellow) visible light decline, and even later the infrared (red) fades away. As can be seen, the observed values agree reasonably well with the theoretical predictions.
