Inside a metallic superfluid

The figure shows a snaphsot of the vortex state in the interior of the metallic superfluid. The electronic (blue) and protonic (red) vortices, or quantum tornadoes, do not allow for an electron or proton to flow through the system without damping. However, somewhat counter-intuitively electrons accompanied by protons move through this thunderstorm without any friction (image and text courtesy: A Sudbo).
