A cloud of sonoluminescent bubbles collapsing near a high intensity ultrasonic horn immersed in sulphuric acid. The emitting bubbles are lit only by their own sonoluminescence (that is, no external lighting). Image credit: D. Flannigan and K.S. Suslick, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)
